LMMG Physicians Now Officially Part Of Northeast Medical Group

New Haven, CT (April 3, 2017) – Yale New Haven Health (YNHHS) today announced the completion of the integration of the physicians and staff of L+M Medical Group (LMMG) into Northeast Medical Group (NEMG).

The new partnership is a result of the affiliation of Yale New Haven Health and L+M Healthcare that took place last September. The integration will retain the strengths of the LMMG practices, most notably the physicians and staff, and maintain existing relationships with local partners – such as its referring physicians. NEMG and LMMG share philosophies on patient-centered care and commitment to community. With the completion of the integration, LMMG patients will now have access to the resources, specialists and treatment options of Yale New Haven Health.

Patients should see a seamless transition of care. Bills sent prior to April 1 will come from LMMG and after will be on NEMG letterhead. While patients may need to fill out new forms at their next visit, they will still have access to My Chart for their personal health records and should notice little change. As the entire health system is now on the same electronic medical record, hospitals, outpatient centers, and doctors’ offices can share information easily which allows for even safer and more closely coordinated care. The affiliation also positively impacts NEMG patients by bringing new specialty service into the provider network, such as dermatology.

“We are committed to ensuring that all our patients have an outstanding and positive medical care experience,” said Prathibha Varkey, MBBS, MPH, CEO and president, NEMG and senior vice president, YNHHS. “LMMG patients have received excellent care from their physicians and this will only be enhanced by the integration with NEMG.”

Over the past six months, NEMG and LMMG leadership teams have been working closely together to plan a smooth integration. Through the work of integration teams, staff on both sides addressed a number of key transition areas including operations, billing, finance, real estate, and marketing and communications.

“The affiliation between LMMG and NEMG is a natural partnership that adds a welcome measure of stability for our clinicians and support staff during a time of growing uncertainty in the healthcare industry,” said H. Anthony Carter, MD, MBA, Northeast Medical Group internist and regional medical director, New London/Westerly. “Given our history of shared program development with YNHHS we anticipate that there will be enhanced opportunities that will help create a more dynamic and satisfying work experience.”

In the past calendar year, NEMG met all the outpatient quality metrics of the Accountable Care Organization (ACO) and continues to sustain outpatient satisfaction scores above the national average.
