The Auxiliary of L+M Hospital Marks its 100th Birthday!

Steadfast support for the hospital and its mission has made the L+M Auxiliary one of the region’s most distinguished charitable organizations, and this year the hospital community pays tribute to the Auxiliary’s special birthday: its Centennial.

Founded just two years after the opening of the Joseph Lawrence Free Public Hospital in 1912, the small but dedicated group of women led by Nanine Lawrence Pond has grown to include hundreds of women (and some men, too) who have given thousands of hours helping L+M meet the medical needs of southeastern Connecticut.

L+M's Annual Gala held on May 3rd at Foxwoods, is in honor of the Centennial of the Auxiliary of L+M Hospital. Festivities begin at 5:30 with an open reception, dinner, silent auction and live music/dancing. $125 per person. For more information, please call the L+M Office of Development at 860.442.0711, ext. 3163

With over 300 members, the Auxiliary always welcomes new members who may participate on special fundraising events or simply support activities through annual membership dues. The success of the Auxiliary's projects is directly attributed to the hard work and dedication of its committee members.

Auxiliary funding has supported countless programs at the hospital over the years, and the group has also been a morale booster, with a powerful sense of purpose and camaraderie carried through the decades.
