    Volunteer at L+M

    Lawrence + Memorial volunteers provide support and strength to our patients, families and staff.

    Volunteers come from all backgrounds and age groups, they share a common desire to offer caring and compassion through service. Volunteers reap personal satisfaction and gain a greater sense of purpose by sharing their time and talents with others.

    Placement opportunities range from administrative and patient support to support of positions in the hospital gift shop.

    Gentle Touch & Guided Imagery Program

    A unique program designed to help relax and comfort patients through guided imagery and light touch to the hands and feet during their stay at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital. Touch is used as a complement to other health care services in order to promote relaxation, decrease tension, and relieve pain. Prior patient contact experience is required.

    Patient Support Services

    Volunteers assist hospital staff with the discharge and transport of patients by wheelchair in a safe and timely manner. Excellent customer service skills are a must.

    If you or someone you know would like to become a volunteer, please call Jamie Nadeau, Volunteer Services office at 860-442-0711, extension 2475.

    Anyone interested and willing to commit two or more hours per weeks to serve patients, families, visitors, and hospital staff is eligible to become a Lawrence + Memorial volunteer. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.

    Junior Volunteers

    Please Note:  Our Summer 2016 Program is full at this time and we are not accepting additional names.  
    If you are interested in submitting a name for the 2017 Summer Program, please contact the Volunteer Office in October of 2016 to add a name for Summer of 2017.  

    Our junior volunteers are at least 14 years old and in good academic standing at school. Junior volunteers work mainly during the summer months and provide invaluable service to the hospital staff.
