In 2009, our orthopedic and medical surgical nursing unit was selected as one of 125 hospitals in the nation in Transforming Care at the Bedside (TCAB) efforts. Lawrence + Memorial Hospital is one of the few hospitals in the country selected to participate in the TCAB work to develop innovations that increase the time nurses are able to spend at a patient's bedside.

Our goal is to make you comfortable during your stay, while getting you quickly on the road to recovery and rehabilitation. The Joint Replacement post-operative unit offers the following:

The team works closely with referring physicians to guide each patient from pre-surgery education through post-surgery rehabilitation and recovery. Minimizing your pain is a goal of the team. Prior to surgery, your plan of pain management is determined by your surgeon and reviewed with you, so you understand the course of treatment which will be taken post-operatively.
Once you are home, your rehabilitation can continue with outpatient physical therapy rehabilitation, available through Lawrence + Memorial's Signature Rehabilitation sites conveniently located in East Lyme, Waterford and Groton.
