Radiation Oncology Services at the Community Cancer Center is staffed by Yale School of Medicine Radiation Oncologists.
An attending physician is on the premises at all times and works closely with our highly experienced staff of radiation therapists, nurses, medical physicists, and dosimetrists. Staff members are always available to explain treatment and answer patients' questions.
At Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, we use a GE CT simulator that has multi-slice imaging for precision localization of tumor and normal tissue structures. External beam radiation is delivered with a dual energy Treatment machine (Varian Linear Accelerator), which is capable of providing conventional radiotherapy, electron beam radiotherapy, and Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT). The Calypso, a 4D localization system is used to treat prostate cancer which delivers precision and accuracy while avoiding healthy surrounding tissues and organs.
