Lawrence & Memorial’s Childbirth Education Program helps to educate expectant parents and their families about topics ranging from Preparing for Birth, Caring for Baby, Caring for Yourself-Transitioning to Parenthood, Breastfeeding, Multiples(twins and more), Teens, Fatherhood, Grandparents, Sibling preparation, Infant CPR for New and Expectant Parents, Pre-natal Yoga, Car Seat Installation, Parenting Classes and Tours of the Labor & Delivery Unit (LDRP). It is recommended that classes are completed by the beginning of the 9th month of pregnancy, (8th month for twin pregnancy). Some classes fill quickly and early registration is recommended. Registration is required.

Tours of the Maternity Unit
Tours are by appointment only and are held on Tuesdays at 12 noon and 5 pm. Please note: If you are scheduled for a preparing for birth class tours are included in your class. Please call 442-0711 ext 2300 to schedule the tour. Fee Free
Grandparents: A Special Role
This one time class discusses the changes in responsibilities from parenting to grandparenting, the changes that have occurred in parenting and birth over the years, new role(s) as grandparents and ideas to help support the new family. Tour of the birthing center is included. Registration required. Fee $10
I’m Going to Be a Big Brother/Big Sister
This sibling education program is intended for children ages three and older and their parents who are anticipating the birth of another child. The informal class includes a film for children, a visit to the maternity unit, discussion with parents on how to integrate a new baby into the family and tips on dealing with sibling rivalry. Children will leave with a certificate as a Big Brother/Sister. Registration required. Fee $10 per family
Prenatal Yoga
Release tension, relax with other mothers, and enjoy a few quiet moments. Stretching, gentle strengthening and working on alleviating the discomforts that are common during pregnancy.
