Community Education Programs offer a helping hand to people that want to improve their health through wellness and information. Programs are offered at 3 locations, L&M Hospital main campus; Joslin Diabetes Center, Mystic, CT; and Old Saybrook Medical Office Building. Current programs are:

• Sit Down Shape Up – A 10 week exercise programs for beginners, which is ideal for senior citizens, or those who may be arthritic, overweight or hypertensive. We progress slowly but provide proper exercise to suit your needs.
  Locations are: Mystic, and Old Saybrook.

• Rev It Up! – This 9 week wellness course forces on tried, true and new ways to approach nutrition and fitness for optimal results. REV IT UP is the guidance you have been looking for to help you create a plan that is right for you. Right for your body and right for your lifestyle. The small class setting provides the accountability and support you need to help you transition into your new way of living.

• Winding Your Weigh Down - A personalized weight management program that helps you take steps toward lifetime weight control. This program runs eight weeks and main focus is diet and weight control.

• Freedom From Smoking – Eight sessions led by a certified leader who understands your motivations and your rationalizations about continuing to smoke. Uses a positive, behavior change approach that teaches you how to become a non-smoker.

• Get Fit Challenge – Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in partnership with the New London Recreation Department are offering Aerobic exercise class for 10 weeks.
  Location: New London Martin Center on Broad Street.
  Tuesday & Thursday evenings 4:15pm – 5:15pm.
