An Electrocardiogram, or EKG, is a recording of the electrical activity of the heart. 12 lead EKG's are performed to assist in the diagnosis of cardiac disease.
EKG's are performed upon written order by a MD/DO, PA or APRN.
No appointment is necessary, all EKG's are done on a walk-in basis. All we ask is that you please bring a copy of the written order from your doctor. Indication(s) for the EKG must be noted on the order slip.
Walk-ins are welcome Monday thu Friday from 8 AM to 3 PM. Depending on the current volume of scheduled patients, this process should take about 15-20 minutes.
All pediatric EKG's (age 15 and under) will be read by a pediatric cardiologist from Yale.
Once the EKG has been read by the cardiologist we will send a copy directly to your doctor. If you would like to have the results sent to additional doctors, let the technician know when they do your EKG so that we can send copies to them as well.
Patient Preparation: Try to avoid using body lotion, as this makes it difficult for the EKG stickers to adhere. Also, EKG stickers will be placed on your legs, so wearing full stockings is not recommended.
