Preparing for Birth
The Preparing for Birth classes should be taken during the 7th-8th month of pregnancy. Classes cover information from how do I know I am in labor?, when do I go to the hospital?, stages and phases of labor and birth, non- medication and medication comfort measures including breathing and relaxation techniques, hospital policies and procedures, birth film, cesarean section and tour of the maternity unit. These classes are held in the traditional 4 week 2 ½ hours once a week evening format or the All Day Preparing for Birth format which is a one time condensed class which is held on a Saturday. Classes are held in various locations and at various times to suit families schedules. Registration is required. Cost is $50 per couple. Teens are free. Preparing for Birth Multiples Class
This is a 4-week class for the family expecting twins or more. This class should be taken during the 6th-7th month of pregnancy. This class will cover information that is specific to the pregnancy and birth of a multiple pregnancy. Discussion on high risk factors, birth options and parenting tips as well as tour of the Labor & Delivery Unit and Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery (NICU) is included. Preparing for Birth TEEN Class
This is a preparing for Birth class for the teen parent and their support person(s). The classes include the same information as in the Preparing for Birth Class listed above but will discuss the specific needs of the teen family. Tour of the maternity unit is included. Preparing for Birth-Refresher Class
