Injured Worker Rehabilitation Therapy is coordinated through the Occupational Health Center with offices in Groton and Niantic. To link to their services, click here.
Elements of the injured Worker Rehabilitation are included in L&M's Signature Rehabilitation Services program in Outpatient Rehab Services facilities in Waterford and Groton. Treatments include work reconditioning, firefighter and other highly physical work simulation and community safety education/ergonomics.

Work Re-Conditioning Therapy
• Physical therapy program focused on rehabilitation after injury on the job. It is the only program of its kind in eastern Connecticut.
• Traditional therapy is combined with work simulated activities to return clients to work more quickly.
• The primary focus of therapy is the safe return of the client to his/her job following an injury or surgery.
Functional Capacity Assessment
• Objective, standardized test to measure someone’s work abilities.
• Therapists performing test are certified in the Isernhagen method of Functional Capacity Assessments and Job Function Analysis.
• Functional capacity evaluations are used to assist in determining ability to return to a specific job, to gather information for physicians to determine the degree of disability, recommendations on focusing rehabilitation, and gathering information on job-retraining.
Work Simulator Device
• 6-foot by 37-foot, two level structure built with input from the New London Fire Department. The only program of its kind in eastern Connecticut.
• Used to simulate many highly physical job functions on a continuous basis to strengthen and equip workers to return safely to full duty. Examples: construction, police, warehouse, electricians, HVAC and pipefitting.
Community Safety Education/Ergonomics
• Most of our therapists are Certified Specialists in Health Ergonomics (CSHE).
• Available to perform Safety training and lectures for companies.
• Available to perform Ergonomic worksite evaluations.
