Safe Kids New London County
SAFE KIDS New London County, an initiative of Lawrence & Memorial, to reduce unintentional injuries and deaths to children under 14 years old. This work is accomplished through a multifaceted approach to increase public awareness, provide education and advocate for environmental and public policy changes.
Injuries are the leading killer of our children. Traffic injuries, burns, drowning, falls, choking, unintentional shootings and poisonings cause more children’s deaths each year than diseases, kidnapping and drugs combined; more than 6,700 a year, in fact, and they disable another 50,000.
We call them accidents, but they’re not, because they can be predicted – and prevented. It doesn’t cost a lot or take much time, either. And that’s where we come in. We’re Safe Kids, and our mission is to reduce preventable injuries to children.
