Innovation in Design
The 48,000-square-foot, two-story cancer center has been innovative since the earliest stages of design, with input from cancer survivors, nurses, doctors and others. The building will incorporate many suggestions, such as views of natural areas from treatment rooms. All elements of the cancer center are aimed at providing patients and their families with the highest levels of convenience, peace and comfort.
Strategic Affiliation with Dana-Farber
This strategic initiative with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute will give the region access to resources rarely found in community cancer treatment settings, including second opinions, clinical trials and genetic counseling.
Radiation Oncology – Long-standing affiliation with Yale-New Haven Hospital
The L+M Cancer Center will continue its longstanding affiliation with Yale-New Haven Hospital for radiation oncology.
Groundbreaking Milestone June 21, 2012
L+M officials joined other local dignitaries for a groundbreaking ceremony at the site near Exit 81 off I-95 in Waterford on June 21st. Bruce D. Cummings, L+M's President and CEO, said the cooperation and planning that led to that historic moment represented a highlight of his professional career.
The Help We Need - Supporting L+M's new Cancer Center
The L+M Cancer Center is the focus of the hospital's major capital campaign with the objective of raising a minimum of $30 million to support this project. The Office of Development is currently meeting with generous supporters to frame multi-year pledges to help get us to our goal. Anyone interested is encouraged to contact the Office of Development at 860.442.0711, ext. 2240 to schedule a private meeting. In the meantime, all gifts – of whatever size – are important to the overall success of the campaign. Consider making a gift in memory or in honor of a loved one, or to commemorate a special event. Please click here to make a gift that will be directed to the Campaign account to help fund our new Cancer Center.
All financial gifts made to the campaign are helping support this major advancement for both L+M and residents of the region. We deeply appreciate the support of those who are enthusiastic about our plans and are willing to become involved. Thank you.
