The Community Cancer Center at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital is an outpatient facility, that provides medical and radiation oncology services in collaboration with physician specialists from southeastern Connecticut, Yale University School of Medicine, and Brown University School of Medicine/Women and Infants Hospital. New patients treated at the Cancer Center exceeded 1,900 in 2007.

The primary mission of the Community Cancer Center and the Oncology Program is to provide integrated cancer care and resources to the communities of eastern Connecticut; western Rhode Island; and Fishers Island, New York. The Oncology Program's philosophy of patient care is that a multidisciplinary approach is both necessary and beneficial to ensure that all patient needs are identified and provided for.
- Our Oncology Program has established affiliations and participates in clinical research activities to ensure that the latest in cancer treatments are available.
- The Walter T. Moreland Resource Room, located in the Cancer Center, is easily accessible to patients and provides information on prevention, wellness and research.
- Relationships are maintained with specialists from other New England medical centers to facilitate the referral of patients who need specialized care.
- Lawrence & Memorial Hospital maintains the ability to keep abreast of the latest advances in cancer treatments through cancer research and the cooperative oncology groups and multidisciplinary conferences.
