The laboratory provides a courier service for specimen pickup from physicians' offices, on request.
The laboratory offers home blood drawing services which can be arranged by a physician by calling the phlebotomy supervisor at 860.442.0711 ext. 3783.
The Serology laboratory is now testing for Gylcohemoglobin Alc using the TOSOH Alc 2.2. This method is currently used at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston. It is approved by the National Glycohemoglobin Standardization Program as being traceable to the Diabetes Control and Complication Trial Reference method. It is the "gold standard" for diabetes monitoring and affirms Lawrence & Memorial's association with the newly established Joslin Diabetes Center, affiliate at Lawrence & Memorial.
