More than one parent has had to comfort a sick child in the middle of the night. L&M, together with the Connecticut Children's Medical Center, provide the Pediatric Advice Line-or PAL-a service to assist parents who need help with emergent needs after their pediatrician's office closes for the night or weekend.
PAL connects parents or caregivers with an L&M operator who takes important information regarding the nature of the emergency, then faxes the information to a specially trained PAL nurse at the Connecticut Children's Medical Center. The nurse will then assess the situation, provide medical information, and direct the parent to seek emergency care, or put the patient in direct contact with the child's pediatrician. The service ensures that the parent or caregivers needs are met and helps to alleviate the volume of calls pediatricians receive for non-emergent situations.
Contact Information
Pediatricians on staff at L&M are automatically tied to the PAL system. If you're a parent or caregiver experiencing a problem with your child after hours, call your L&M affiliated pediatrician's office directly. You'll be connected to the PAL system automatically.
