With more than thirty-five years of experience, state-of-the-art equipment and a skilled, compassionate staff, Lawrence + Memorial Hospital’s Cardiology Services are recognized as a best option for residents throughout eastern Connecticut.
L+M’s board-certified, community-based cardiologists and other clinical experts are ready to take care of your heart and your complete cardiovascular system, whether you require a simple diagnostic check-up or advanced procedures for coronary artery disease, including elective and emergency angioplasty (also known as emergency PCI) for victims of acute heart attack.
L+M’s Cardiology Services are comprehensive, from an inpatient Coronary Care Unit, outpatient services including cardiac rehabilitation, and a new congestive heart failure program combining in-patient care with out-patient education and follow-up.
L+M’s Cardiac Catheterization Lab offers diagnostic cardiac testing as well as pacemakers and defibrillators. All our programs aim to help promote heart-healthy lifestyles. At L+M, our cardiologists and their staff are ready and willing to meet your needs at your convenience. The holistic goal of Cardiology Services at L+M is simple: to help you help your heart.
L+M has partnered with Yale to establish the L+M Heart + Vascular Center in affiliation with the Yale-New Haven Heart and Vascular Center, where L+M cardiologists will collaborate with leading Yale cardiologists, providing patients with the highest level of care in the region. Elective Angioplasty is the first procedure offered in the developing L+M Heart + Vascular Center.
Elective Angioplasty (PCI)
Lawrence + Memorial Hospital is now licensed by the state Department of Public Health to perform elective angioplasty for patients with coronary artery disease.
L+M is the first community hospital in Connecticut to preform emergency and elective angioplasty without needing a full open heart surgical service. L+M’s successful record of performing emergency angioplasty for the past five years, also in a collaborative program with Yale, helped lead the way for this new model of elective angioplasty performed at a community hospital.
Emergency Angioplasty (PCI)
L+M remains the only hospital in all of eastern Connecticut that offers emergency angioplasty for victims of acute heart attack. Emergency angioplasty is the most effective way to treat most heart attack victims, saving heart muscle and saving lives.
At L+M, Yale-affiliated interventional cardiologists are on call round-the-clock to provide the service, and they are always in close communication with paramedics and Emergency Department staff, thereby capable of preparing for an emergency procedure even before the patient arrives at the hospital.
