Memorial + Honorary Gifts

Many people make gifts to the Hospital in memory of a loved one or to honor someone on a special day (birthday, anniversary, graduation, etc.). These gifts are made either to the Development Fund or to a specific department.

Our Memorial Gift Program has become increasingly strong as patients and/or family members elect to name the Hospital for memorial gifts in gratitude for care received. If people wish to name the Hospital in their obituary to encourage gifts to L+M, they should alert their attorney or funeral director to be sure the correct information is published.

L+M has an attractive display of hundreds of names of people who, over the past several decades, have listed the Hospital to receive gifts in their memory. Our Memorial Board is located on the first floor at the end of the Hall of Philanthropy. Once an obituary is published listing the Hospital, the Office of Development communicates with the family and will in time place a plaque on the Memorial Board with the individual's name.

Many Hospital departments have been supported through memorial donations, including the Community Cancer Center, Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab Programs, Joslin Diabetes affiliate, Coronary Care and Intensive Care Units, Surgical Services, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Women & Children's Services, and others.

We encourage anyone interested in memorial or honorary gifts to call us to discuss particular arrangements.
