A copy of your complete medical record, including pathology or lab reports and radiology films and our new patient form. You will also need to bring a list of your current medications. On your first appointment, you will meet with the team of cancer care specialists involved in your care. They will review your medical records, health history, and answer any questions and discuss treatment options.

Cancer care specialists involved in your care may include:

  • Medical oncologists, who specialize in administering anti-cancer drugs (chemotherapy)
  • Surgical oncologists
  • Radiation oncologists, who use radiation to destroy cancer cells
  • Other specialists, which include pathologists, radiologists, nurses, nutritionists and social workers

Yes. We encourage family members or close friends to participate in appointments with your cancer care team. Since we explain a lot of information to you, it may be helpful to have others there to listen and take notes for you.

Your number of visits will depend on your treatment plan. A schedule will be determined for the duration of your treatment.

While you are receiving treatment it is very important to contact the doctor or nurse at the L+M Cancer Center that is treating you. Remember that we are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Call the L+M Cancer Center at 860-444-3744 and ask for the nurse working with your physician and provide the following information: your physician, the question and the phone number where you can be reached.

Tumor boards are conferences held to discuss your diagnosis and review all pertinent information such as imaging reports and laboratory studies. Typically, in attendance are pathologists, radiologists, medical oncologists and radiation physicians.

Patient Financial Councelors are here to assist you with your questions regarding your patient balances. They are able to provide possible alternative payment options and can be reached from 8:30AM - 4:30PM, Monday -Friday. You can call them at 860-444-3744.

Lawrence + Memorial Hospital will bill facility charges for your visits at the L+M Cancer Center. Professional services provided by the doctors involved in your care are billed independently from the hospital. For example, professional claims for pathologists, radiologists, oncologists, and other physicians are billed separately from the hospital.

To obtain laboratory test results, you will need the doctor's name and date drawn. Ask to speak to a program nurse by calling 860-444-3744.

To refer and/or schedule an appointment for an adult patient, please call 860-444-3744 and speak to an appointment specialist who will collect the necessary information to schedule an appoint for your patient or a family member.

A physician may refer a patient directly to a specialist at the center by calling the main number at 860-444-3744.
