Jan. 25 Workplace Violence Prevention webinar focuses on the patient’s perspective

Employees are invited to an upcoming webinar: “Workplace Violence: A Patient’s Perspective,” noon - 1 pm Thursday, Jan. 25. A first step in preventing or stopping aggressive behavior is understanding what triggers lead to patients’ escalating behavior. Webinar presenters will share insight from the patient’s perspective on how to help reduce workplace violence by: 

  • Understanding patient expectations
  • Increasing communication
  • Addressing basic patient needs
    Recognizing there are circumstances we may be unaware of that can escalate patient behavior

Bridgeport Hospital President Anne Diamond, JD, will host the webinar. Margaret O’Reilly, director, Capacity and Off Shift Operations, YNHH, will serve as facilitator.

Stop the Bleed classes available for YNHH employees

Bleeding is the number one preventable cause of death in injured people. Yale New Haven Hospital employees are invited to a free class to learn and practice skills to help someone who is severely injured and bleeding. Classes will be held:

  • Monday, Feb. 5, 2 - 3 pm, Saint Raphael Campus Ambulatory Building, basement, conference room AG052
  • Monday, March 11, 6 - 7 pm, York Street Campus, South Pavilion, CH 201

Save the date: YNHHS nursing research conference is May 1

Nurses throughout Yale New Haven Health System are invited to the 16th annual Janet Parkosewich Nursing Research Conference. The conference will be held in-person, 8 am - 4 pm Wednesday, May 1, at the Yale University West Campus Conference Center. The keynote speaker is Azita Emami, RN, PhD, the Linda Koch Lorimer Professor of Nursing and dean, Yale School of Nursing. Mileage reimbursement increases

As of Jan. 1, the mileage reimbursement rate for business travel in an employee’s personal vehicle is 67 cents a mile, per the IRS. The online T&E module (XM) mileage reimbursement rate will automatically be applied based on the travel date.

YNHHS Clinical Engineering department to replace Trimedx

YNHHS Clinical Engineering is now responsible for support of all medical equipment at ambulatory off-site locations previously supported by Trimedx. The change also affects Bridgeport Hospital (including the Milford Campus) and Greenwich Hospital. To request medical equipment support, sites previously supported by Trimedx should call the YNHHS Digital Technology Solutions Help Desk: 203-688-4357 (HELP). 

  • Choose “Option 9” to reach Clinical Engineering for the Medical Device Line.
  • The Service Desk analyst will ask a series of questions to place a ticket on the caller’s behalf.
  • Once the call has been completed, a ticket will be opened with Clinical Engineering and the caller will receive and email with their “CDWK” number to reference.
