College interns, YNHHS, learn from one another

interns

Every year, Yale New Haven Health System hosts dozens of interns from colleges and universities throughout the U.S.

These interns work in departments all over the health system, performing a variety of tasks and learning from employees and leaders about working in health care. They also work together in project teams – each led by a YNHHS leader/sponsor – on research topics relevant to the health system. In August, intern teams presented projects on a patient resource center, remote patient monitoring, using mobile technology to make work easier, the patient experience in inpatient and outpatient settings and exploring the benefits and risks of a healthcare system.

The internships aren’t all work, though. Last year’s interns started a social committee, led by sponsor Chas Cota, manager, web services, Information Technology Services. The committee schedules fun events such as tours of Yale University, dinner at New Haven restaurants and other activities.
