Nurses trade stethoscopes for spatulas to claim victuals victory

bulletin

Adrienne Ward, RN; Kristine Chicoine, RN

Congratulations to Adrienne Ward, RN, assistant patient service manager, Neuroscience ICU, and Kristine Chicoine, RN, Heart and Vascular Center Advanced Heart Failure/Stroke unit (Verdi 5 East), who each won a grand prize in the Nov. 7 Baking Wars. The event helps support United Way of Greater New Haven and Icing Smiles, a nonprofit organization which provides custom celebration cakes and other treats to families with critically ill children. Sixteen contestants from throughout the hospital volunteered to create homemade, handheld confections using at least two of four mandatory ingredients: dark chocolate, bacon, strawberry and mint. Ward won with her mint chocolate cupcakes, while Chicoine wowed judges with her sweet lumberjack (dark chocolate and bacon) cupcakes. Thanks to all who participated. Next year’s event will be Nov. 5 at the York Street Campus.
