Let’s Talk event on re-envisioning health equity Feb. 16

In recognition of Black History Month in February, employees are invited to a Let’s Talk event, “Re-envisioning Equity Through a Humanistic Lens,” noon - 1 pm Thursday, Feb. 16. The Keynote speaker is Angela Richard-Eaglin, DNP, associate clinical professor, Yale School of Nursing. She will discuss how inequitable practices and systems continue to adversely impact the well-being of Black and African-American people and provide strategies for sustainable transformation of health disparities. Closer to Free launch party March 26

Anyone interested in participating in or volunteering for the Sept. 9 Closer to Free (CTF) Bike Ride are invited to a launch party, noon - 5 pm Sunday, March 26, at Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ, 470 James St., New Haven. Sign up at the launch party to ride or volunteer and you will receive an official CTF long-sleeved t-shirt. To RSVP for the launch party, register for the ride or sign up to volunteer, visit rideclosertofree.org. All Yale New Haven employee riders receive half off the registration fee (employees pay $50 for adults and $25 for students/youth). Use the code EMPLOYEE23 and provide your employee ID number at registration. Proceeds from the CTF Ride benefit patient care and research at Smilow Cancer Hospital and Yale Cancer Center.

Simulation centers integrate

Yale New Haven Health’s Simulation Center and the Yale Center for Medical Simulation recently integrated to educate and train healthcare providers across YNHHS and Yale School of Medicine (YSM). The combined simulation center, at 728 and 730 Howard Ave., is now called the Yale Center for Healthcare Simulation. Leigh Evans, MD, section chief of medical simulation, Emergency Medicine, and associate professor of emergency medicine at YSM, is the simulation center’s executive director.
