Work and life can be taxing at times, but with a little effort, it is possible to manage stress. Yale New Haven Hospital offers employees a variety of programs and services designed to increase resilience and reduce stress inside and outside the workplace.

NEW! Serenity stations

These stations are available to all employees for stress relief throughout the workday. They can be set up in individual units or departments to offer relaxing treatments such as chair massage, guided meditation and reiki. Managers and above can schedule on-site serenity stations for their staff. For information or to request a station, contact [email protected].

“Take 10” phone meditations

Meditation can improve focus and concentration, promote relaxation and reduce stress and burnout.

Taking a brief pause during a busy day can help employees reset and refresh. Yale New Haven’s Employee and Family Resources (EFR) Program hosts live, 10- to 12-minute phone meditations Tuesdays at 2 pm and Fridays at noon. To join, go to a quiet location and dial 888-398-2342, access code 3862125. Or call 203-688-6185 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to access recorded meditations.

Resiliency resources

EFR offers articles, videos, quizzes, webinars and one-on-one counseling to help employees increase resilience to life’s challenging moments and alleviate stress at work or home. Call 877-275-6226 or visit Achieve Solutions, 24/7/365. All EFR programs and services are free to YNHHS staff and completely confidential. EFR also offers workshops on resiliency and mindfulness. Visit the Resiliency Resources page on HRConnect throughout the year for other offerings.
