Yale New Haven Hospital continues to rank among the top U.S. hospitals, according to U.S. News & World Report's annual "America's Best Hospitals" listing. Of the nearly 5,000 hospitals surveyed, YNHH ranks nationally in 11 of 16 specialties.

The hospital's Geriatrics and Psychiatry specialties rank in the nation's top 10 at #10 each, while Pulmonology ranks #12, Diabetes and Endocrinology rank #16, Gastroenterology ranks #23 and Neurology and Neurosurgery ranks #25.

YNHH is ranked among the best nationally in five other medical specialties: Urology #29, Ear, Nose and Throat #33, Kidney Disorders #34, Gynecology #35 and Cancer #50.

"We are all very proud that Yale New Haven Hospital has again been recognized as one of America's Best Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report," said Thomas Balcezak, MD, chief medical officer at YNHH. "These rankings demonstrate our consistent ability to grow so many of our patient-centered services and at the same time, deliver the highest quality care across the board. That U.S. News & World Report recognizes these achievements means we are fulfilling our goals to provide the best care to the people of Connecticut and beyond."

According to U.S. News & World Report, hard numbers support the rankings in most specialties – death rates, patient safety, procedure volume and other objective data. The entire national listing is at usnews.com/best-hospitals.

In June, U.S. News released its "Best Children's Hospitals" rankings, and six Yale New Haven Children's Hospital specialties were recognized.
