Sepsis alert seminar Sept. 13

Christopher Sankey, MD, will present a seminar, “Automated Sepsis Alert,” 3 - 4 pm Wednesday, Sept. 13, seminar room, 55 Park St. The event is part of a safety and quality seminar series presented by the Center for Healthcare Innovation, Redesign and Learning (CHIRAL) at Yale University. Prostate cancer awareness for employees Sept. 14 and 15

The hospital and Yale Cancer Center will hold free prostate cancer awareness events for YNHH employees, 3:30 - 5 pm Thursday, Sept. 14, and 7 - 8 am Friday, Sept. 15, Urology Center, 330 Orchard St., suite 164, Saint Raphael Campus. Foodborne illness lecture Sept. 20

In recognition of Food Safety Awareness month this month, Ellen Liskov, registered dietitian, YNHH Nutrition Clinic, will conduct a lunch and learn on facts, myths and food safety smarts, noon - 12:30 pm Wednesday, Sept. 20, Max Taffel conference room. Alzheimer’s Association walk Sept. 24

Tournament benefits brain cancer patients and their families

At a pro-am tournament this summer, Jamie Lovemark and other progolfers helped raise $200,000 for Yale New Haven Hospital’s Social Work department to provide financial and emotional assistance to brain cancer patients and their families. YNHH neurosurgeon Jennifer Moliterno, MD, joined Lovemark and his wife, Tiva at the organization’s first annual pro-am tournament at Hudson National Golf Club. The Lovemarks founded the non-profit Lovemark Foundation.

Conference for young adults with cancer Oct. 14

The second annual IMPACT Conference: For Young Adults Living with Cancer and Beyond will be 9:30 am - 4 pm Saturday, Oct. 14, 55 Park St. auditorium. The free conference is also open to friends, partners and family members. The event provides an opportunity for people ages 18 - 39 to connect with other cancer survivors and caregivers and learn from experts about topics such as cancer and careers, dating and relationships, finances, emotional health and fertility and family planning. The keynote speaker is Suleika Jaouad, an Emmy Award-winning writer, advocate and cancer survivor. Register online at ynhh.org/events or call 1-888-700-6543.
