Heather Clayton, RN, BSN; Toni Crowell-Petrungaro; Peter Gruber, MD, PhD; Cristina Santiago, RN, MSN

Heather Clayton, RN, BSN, has been named patient services manager, Heart and Vascular Center, 500 West Putnam Ave., Greenwich. Before joining YNHH, she was an administrator at UConn Health, where she oversaw medical, dental and psychiatric care. Clayton earned her BSN from Fairfield University, and is working toward her MSN degree.

Toni Crowell-Petrungaro has been named Child Life Program director, Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital. She started her career at Montefiore Medical Center in New York as a child life specialist and has held past leadership roles in child life and allied health disciplines at Sidra Medicine in Doha, Qatar, The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada, and most recently, Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence, RI. Crowell-Petrungaro earned her BA in psychology and BS in education from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. She earned her MS in child life and family-centered care from Boston University and is a certified child life specialist.

Peter Gruber, MD, PhD, has been named chief of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery, Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital. He is also vice chair of research in the Department of Surgery and co-director of the Children’s Heart Center, with Jeremy Asnes, MD, chief of Pediatric Cardiology. Dr. Gruber joined YNHCH in 2018 as associate chief of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery. A pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon, he is nationally recognized for his expertise in the care of complex neonates. Dr. Gruber earned his MD and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his post-doctoral fellowship in cardiac development at the American Heart Association-Bugher Foundation Center for Molecular Biology at the University of California, San Diego, and his clinical training in general and cardiothoracic surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, and in pediatric cardiothoracic surgery at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Cristina Santiago, RN, MSN, has been named patient services manager, Heart and Vascular Center Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (WP 3). She became interim PSM of the unit in March, after serving as assistant patient services manager of HVC Cardiac Medicine (SP 5-2) for nine years. Santiago earned her BSN from St. Paul College of Manila and her MSN in management and organizational leadership from American Sentinel University, Aurora, CO.
