These employees received PEACE (Patient Experience Award for Caring and Excellence) recognition for going above and beyond to meet patients’ and families’ needs.

bulletin

Pediatric Emergency Department staff were recognized for providing compassionate, patient-centered care to a patient with autism who had COVID-19. While the patient was recovering and awaiting a new residential placement, staff members continually engaged him with a variety of special activities, toys, exercises and meals designed to provide comfort and routine. After a 30-day stay in the Pedi ED, the patient was released.

bulletinAshley Carle, RN, was honored for going above and beyond on behalf of a patient who was admitted to the York Street Campus Medical Intensive Care Unit for COVID-19. When the patient expressed concern about his dog’s care while he was hospitalized, Carle contacted Social Work, who arranged for animal control to pick up the dog and take it to a safe place. As it became evident the patient was not going to survive, Carle promised she would personally find the dog a safe home. After the patient’s death, Carle arranged to have the dog adopted by a new owner.

All employees, physicians and volunteers are eligible for the monthly PEACE recognition. Send nominations to: [email protected].
