The Atrial Fibrillation Program at Yale New Haven Hospital’s Heart and Vascular Center recently marked another first in Connecticut with successful implantation of the WATCHMAN FLX next-generation left atrial appendage occlusion device. The device, implanted in the hearts of patients with atrial fibrillation, is designed to prevent blood clots from forming in the heart and causing stroke. Atrial fibrillation is the most common abnormal heart rhythm. With WATCHMAN FLX, most patients with atrial fibrillation can take aspirin rather than other blood thinners that cause a higher risk of bleeding.
Effective Dec. 8, Psychiatry and Behavioral Health’s Continuing Care Program will relocate from 1294 Chapel St. to 646 George St. in New Haven. The outpatient program, which treats adults with mental health illness and co-occurring disorders, will continue to offer in-person and telehealth care. The phone number will remain the same: 203-784-8700. On Nov. 30, adult group therapy sessions currently provided at 1294 Chapel St. will move to 425 George St.
