Bonnie Sanders-Newton, RN; Lynn Peckham, APRN

Thank you for your half a century of service!

Yale New Haven congratulates two employees who will soon retire after 50 years with the organization:

Bonnie Sanders-Newton, RN, graduated from the former Grace-New Haven School of Nursing in 1970 and began working in YNHH’s Emergency Department. She spent much of her YNHH career in nursing education, serving as a clinical educator for critical care and centralized nursing education. Sanders-Newton will retire Jan. 4, 2021, from her current position as an accreditation and regulatory specialist with Yale New Haven Health System. In addition to her extensive skills and expertise, Sanders-Newton is known for her “warm and engaging personality, passion for teaching and commitment to the profession of nursing,” said Victoria Dahl Vickers, YNHHS vice president, Accreditation and Regulatory Affairs. Employees are invited to a virtual retirement reception for Sanders-Newton, 2 - 3 pm Wednesday, Dec. 16. For details, email [email protected].

Lynn Peckham, APRN, pediatric nurse practitioner, will retire Dec. 16 after 50 years in nursing at YNHH. She has worked in school-based health centers for 33 of those years, including 22 in New Haven. Her many contributions include developing an asthma educational curriculum for New Haven schools and providing in-service training for public school nurses. She has also trained graduate nursing students, lectured at Yale School of Nursing’s Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program and presented at national conferences on school-based health centers. Peckham’s awards include the Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing and Connecticut’s School Based Health Center Provider of the Year. “Lynn has positively impacted the lives of many youths during her years of dedicated service,” said Carla Giles, manager, Children’s Community Programs and School Based Health Clinics. “She works with enthusiasm, initiative and a deep concern for the children she serves.”
