Hospital seeks team members for AIDS Walk April 14

YNHH is a sponsor of AIDS Walk New Haven, 10:30 am - 2 pm Saturday, April 14, New Haven Green. The event, to include live performances, speakers and information sessions, will raise money for services for Greater New Haven individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS. National Healthcare Decisions Day April 16

Yale New Haven Health System will observe National Healthcare Decisions Day Monday, April 16, to raise awareness, educate and empower healthcare providers and the public about advance care planning.

Information tables will be staffed:

  • 8 am - 7 pm, York Street Campus cafeteria
  • 8 am - 4 pm, Saint Raphael Campus cafeteria
  • 8 am - 2 pm, North Haven Medical Center second floor
  • 8 am - 2 pm, Old Saybrook Medical Center main lobby
  • 8 am - 2 pm, Shoreline Medical Center main lobby

Representatives from various departments will discuss the benefits of making wishes known in advance. Handouts will include YNHHS advance directives brochures and advance directives legal forms. Staff will be available to answer questions and assist with completing advance directives. YNHH offers weight-management program

YNHH’s Center for Nutrition and Wellness is offering “Live Well and Lose It,” a group weight-management class for employees and their adult dependents that is covered under the Yale New Haven Health System benefits plan with no copay or deductible. This program, taught weekly by registered dietitians, includes a 30-minute lecture on topics such as best food choices, portions, dining out and staying motivated, and offers confidential weigh-ins plus goal-setting assistance. Class schedule: York Street Campus: (six sessions) 7:30 am and 12:15 pm Thursdays, April 19 - May 24; Medical Center South: (five sessions) 12:15 pm Tuesdays, April 17 - May 22; Saint Raphael Campus: (four sessions) 12:15 pm Mondays, April 23, 30 and May 14 and 21. Blood drives scheduled for April

The American Red Cross will hold two upcoming blood drives at YNHH:

HVC Celebration of Life May 1

The Heart and Vascular Center Celebration of Life event, held to remember all those who make heart transplant possible, will be 6 - 8 pm Tuesday, May 1, 55 Park St. auditorium. The event, for heart transplant recipients, their families and staff, will include a presentation and light refreshments. Staff members can RSVP to [email protected].
