Yale New Haven Health’s Institute for Excellence is accepting applications for Women in Leadership: Class of 2019 Lean In. Participants will gain new leadership skills; the ability to identify career-development opportunities; techniques for mitigating challenges women executives face; and the commitment to communicate, teach and provide development opportunities to other women. The program is open to all women in management and physicians who are or aspire to be in management. Applications and a letter of support from the applicant’s supervisor are due by Wednesday, Oct. 24. Yale New Haven Health has earned the American Health Information Management Association’s highest honor, the 2108 Grace Award for excellence in health information management (HIM). The award honors organizations for strong data governance and innovative use of health data analytics. YNHHS’ HIM department was recognized for extensive efforts in coding and clinical documentation improvement; business analytics to support clinical, financial and operational decisions; patient engagement; and implementing an enterprise information governance program. The award, presented Sept. 24 at the AHIMA annual convention in Miami, is named for AHIMA founder Grace Whiting Meyers.
Yale Urology is hosting a day of men’s health screening and education activities, 5 - 7 pm Thursday, Nov. 1, Yale Physicians Building, third floor. Activities include blood pressure and prostate cancer screenings and information on smoking cessation and sexuality issues. Employees are encouraged to complete one or more free, online courses on creating an inclusive environment for LGBTQ patients and staff. The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is offering the courses; Yale New Haven is participating as part of our effort to achieve “LGBTQ Leader” status in healthcare equality. More than 60 online, on-demand continuing medical education (CME) training options are available. Topics include: behavioral health care, LGBTQ youth, LGBTQ healthcare for clinicians and transgender health. Employees are invited to a career fair, 10 am - 2 pm Saturday, Nov 3, Saint Raphael Campus cafeteria. Representatives from area colleges and organizations will discuss educational programs, including nursing schools’ RN to BSN programs and Gateway Community College’s nursing, allied health and new surgical tech training program. Representatives from Yale New Haven Health departments will also share information about their programs, including YNHH’s pharmacy tech training program and School of Diagnostic Imaging.
