Gail W. Kosyla, MBA, appointed as CFO of Yale New Haven Health

New Haven, CT (Sept. 28, 2022) – After a national search, Yale New Haven Health (YNHHS) today announced that Gail W. Kosyla, MBA, has been appointed as its chief financial officer (CFO), effective November 28. Kosyla has been with RWJBarnabas Health (RWJBH) since 2019, most recently serving as executive vice president of System Financial Operations.

“We are delighted to welcome Gail to Yale New Haven Health,” said Christopher O’Connor, YNHHS CEO and president. “Her extensive experience in healthcare, and in an academic health system specifically, will help us shape the future of our health system in the years ahead. We are fortunate to have recruited someone with Gail’s incredible talents.”

Kosyla has broad experience in senior roles at a number of highly respected regional and national health systems. Prior to serving as executive vice president at RWJBH, she served as that system’s chief financial officer for its central region. From 2012 to 2019, Kosyla served as the chief financial officer and senior vice president of strategy at Hunterdon Healthcare System in New Jersey.

After several years at Arthur Andersen, Kosyla began her healthcare career at Catholic Health Initiatives/Catholic Health East in Pennsylvania before being appointed as executive vice president and CFO at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ in 2001. In 2008, Kosyla became a senior vice president and chief financial officer at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, PA, serving in that role until assuming responsibilities at Hunterdon Healthcare System in 2012. These hospitals are now part of Trinity Health.

Kosyla received her master of Healthcare Finance and her master of Business Administration from Temple University where she also received her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She has served as a member of the New Jersey Hospital Association’s Policy Development Committee and a regional provider collaborator for the New Jersey Department of Health’s COVID-19 response. Gail is a certified public accountant and a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Gail and her husband share six adult children. She will be relocating to Connecticut.
