Lawrence + Memorial Hospital appoints new Chair of Psychiatry

New London, CT (July 12, 2022) Lawrence + Memorial Hospital (L+M) has appointed Shanthi Mogali, MD, as chair of Psychiatry. She specializes in addiction psychiatry and is affiliated with Northeast Medical Group, the physician practice of Yale New Haven Health as well as with the Yale School of Medicine. She also sees patients at Westerly Hospital.

Her research interests include medication development and opioid self-administration studies that may influence treatment of opioid use disorders.

Dr. Mogali is assistant professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine and is a double board-certified psychiatrist in general and addiction psychiatry. She obtained her medical degree from Meharry Medical College (2002) and completed residency training at Emory University School of Medicine (2009). Following residency, she completed a clinical research fellowship in addiction psychiatry at Columbia University (2011).

L+M provides highly skilled and compassionate psychiatry and behavioral health care for a variety of conditions in children, adolescents and adults. The Ambulatory Psychiatric Services unit, outpatient behavioral medicine, offers three different programs of treatment for individuals and families. Patients with various psychiatric conditions including major depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia may receive care in our 17-bed adult treatment inpatient unit. The treatment team provides medication management, education and family support, depending on your individual needs.
