Brain Tumor Craniotomy

A craniotomy is the surgical removal of a portion of the skull known as the bone flap. The removal of the bone flap exposes the brain, enabling surgeons to treat or remove tumors, blood clots or treat blood vessel abnormalities. The bone flap is returned to its position following treatment. Hospital stay depends on the type of surgery and the extent of surgery. There is often a day spent in the ICU.
