Inpatient Adult Psychiatric Unit

Overview

Lawrence + Memorial Hospital provides care and support to individuals with various psychiatric conditions, including major depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, conveniently on-site at our 17-bed adult treatment unit. During your stay, a team of mental health providers will work together to help you recover and return to health, as outlined below. The treatment team provides medication management, education and family support, depending on your individual needs.

  • A doctor or advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) meets with you daily to evaluate and diagnose your condition and help guide your treatment. They prescribe your medications and answer any questions you or your family may have about your condition.
  • Nurses and mental health counselors, who are here 24/7, answer questions, talk with you and help you with any problems you are having with your recovery.
  • Social workers and case managers meet with you regularly to help you with follow-up appointments and discharge plans, as well as talking with your family, outpatient providers and insurance company.
  • Occupational therapists assist in identifying your strengths and weaknesses, building skills to promote positive change through both psychoeducational and recreational/social groups, along with individual intervention as needed. As part of skill development, recreational therapy services may also be offered by providing social group activities.
