The Lawrence + Memorial Sleep Center is equipped with the industry-leading technology and equipment, allowing for the most comprehensive diagnosis and treatment that sleep medicine has to offer. Aside from delivering the "gold standard" of health care, every measure has been taken to ensure your comfort and safety. Our rooms not only accommodate children, parents, adults, but also those with disabilities and special needs.

Maskless Sleep Apnea Treatment

The Lawrence + Memorial Sleep Center offers a maskless treatment for Sleep Apnea. An alternative to Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP), is an upper airway stimulation device placed during a same-day outpatient procedure. The device is wirelessly connected to a remote that when activated stimulates a nerve which will in turn increase tone to the airway muscles, so they remain open during sleep. After device placement you will be taught how to control the nerve stimulation to optimize your sleep.

Who is Eligible?

Individuals must meet certain criteria to qualify for the device including a specific body mass index of 35 or less, have moderate to severe sleep apnea, and must undergo an endoscopy to see if their airway constriction occurs in a manner that will allow the nerve stimulator to achieve desired results.

Home Sleep Testing

What is a Home Sleep Test?

A home sleep test is a modified sleep study that is self-administered in the comfort and privacy of your own home. It is used to help detect obstructive sleep apnea in select adults and involves the use of a portable monitoring system equipped with a small recording device, sensors and belts.

Home Sleep Tests vs. Overnight Sleep Center Sleep Testing

The most conclusive for the diagnosis of sleep disorders is still an overnight sleep study, attended by a sleep technician, at the L+M Sleep Center located at the Hilton Garden Inn, Groton. However, in the appropriate screened patient, a Home Sleep Test is a validated, cost-effective testing option (preferred by many insurers to assess for moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea.

If the home sleep test turns out to be inconclusive, or another disorder is suspected, an overnight sleep study in the sleep center may still be needed.

Home Testing Equipment

You will be instructed by our home sleep test coordinator on how to wear the monitor and attach the belts and sensors.

How can I get a Home Sleep Test?

Home sleep tests are only recommended for adults 18 years and older who have a high pretest probability of moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea, and who have no serious contraindicated medical conditions. If you have concerns about your sleep, and you would like to know if you are eligible for a home sleep test, please schedule an appointment with our sleep specialists for a complete sleep evaluation, call 860-444-3366. Our providers will determine if a home sleep test is appropriate for you.
