Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation
Located at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, our Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit offers skilled 24-hour nursing care. Our goal is to help patients who are highly motivated in reaching their optimum level of functioning following a serious injury or illness.
The Acute Inpatient Rehab Unit is the only acute rehabilitation facility in the region that is a Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation (CIIRP), accredited program by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), an internationally recognized organization, which accredits only the very best programs and facilities for meeting their high standards of practice.
The choice in selecting a rehabilitation facility for yourself, or a loved one, can often be daunting. Language is frequently used that may be unfamiliar and confusing. By far, the most difficult choice can be in deciding between an “acute care” facility, which is what we offer at L+M, and a “sub-acute” facility, which you will find in a nursing home.
At L+M Acute Inpatient Rehab we provide a medically based and clinically focused program to meet your rehabilitation needs. The result can be a shorter hospital stay and better recovery outcomes. You will be seen by a physiatrist, a doctor who specializes in rehabilitation medicine, on a daily basis and available 24/7, should the need arise. You can expect to receive a minimum of 15 hours per week of therapy, which will include physical, occupational and speech therapy.
As part of our continuum of care, we offer most patients when they are ready for outpatient services, the opportunity to transition seamlessly to any of our Outpatient Rehabilitation Services, conveniently located in East Lyme, Groton or Waterford.
Let us help write your success story.
