Whether you’re recovering from a stroke, illness, surgery (i.e. spinal, hip, knee) or injury, Lawrence + Memorial’s Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit can help get you home faster.
Our program offers skilled 24-hour nursing care. Our goal is to help every patient to reach an optimum level of functioning following a serious injury or illness.
Hospitals provide acute care, which involves high-level intensive medical treatment and round-the-clock observation. Acute care actively addresses life-threatening or limb-threatening conditions until the patient can be safely treated with a lower level of attention, called subacute care.
Acute inpatient rehabilitation takes place in a hospital and is more specialized and comprehensive than subacute rehabilitation services offered in nursing facilities. In the acute inpatient rehabilitation setting, a patient is expected to make significant functional gains and medical improvement within a reasonable period of time, based on the severity of their condition. Subacute rehabilitation is less intense than acute rehabilitation.
Selecting the right rehabilitation provider is a critical factor in recovery. At L+M’s Acute Inpatient Rehab Unit we provide a medically-based and clinically-focused program to meet your rehabilitation needs. The result can be a shorter hospital stay and better recovery outcomes. You will be seen daily by a physiatrist, a doctor who specializes in rehabilitation medicine. A physiatrist is available 24/7. You can expect to receive a minimum of 15 hours per week of therapy, which will include daily physical, occupational or speech therapy.
We are equipped and staffed to treat patients who have experienced an array of conditions requiring specialized and intensive rehabilitation, including:
