Lawrence + Memorial provides highly skilled and compassionate psychiatry and behavioral health care for a variety of conditions in children, adolescents and adults. The Ambulatory Psychiatric Services unit, outpatient behavioral medicine, offers three different programs of treatment of individuals and families.
These include: the Adult Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and traditional outpatient psychiatric services available in several primary care practices in New London County. Our services do not specialize in the treatment of individuals with an alcohol or chemical dependency primary disorder.
We are participating providers for most insurance carriers. However, it is always recommended that one check with their health care insurance company on the details of the behavioral health policy coverage.
L+M’s psychiatry and behavioral health program emphasizes the individual, creating a therapeutic environment based on the individual’s needs and varying degrees of mental illness. Our interdisciplinary team develops a comprehensive and individualized treatment plan for each patient. The patient has the most important role in her/his own treatment plan, helping set goals and identifying personal strengths that will lead her/him through treatment and into recovery. For Adult patients, the patient's family may be asked to participate in a family session. For children and adolescents, it’s a requirement of their treatment. Throughout the treatment process, patients participate in a consistent program where the treatment team evaluates each patient’s progress toward their goals at each session.
We believe that successful outcomes are measured by the ability to withstand the tests of time. Our behavioral medicine program provides services that not only help patients adapt to the challenges they currently face, but which help them thrive and maintain health through all the seasons of life. Whether through our intensive outpatient program or structured outpatient services, the patient's needs, both emotional and physiological, must be fully met for progress to be realized.
L+M Hospital believes that an integrated, holistic treatment program, in combination with the appropriate social supports, can help individuals and their families recover from mental health and addiction problems.
Treatment at L+M Hospital’s Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Program is grounded in the following principles:
