Mammography / Breast Imaging
The Lawrence + Memorial Hospital Breast Imaging Center at the Main Campus and our satellite facilities in Waterford and Groton are designated by the American College of Radiology (ACR) as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. The Breast Center received this prestigious award for our outstanding personnel and use of state-of-the-art equipment for:
- 3D Tomosynthesis Mammography
- Stereotactic breast biopsy
- Breast ultrasound
- Ultrasound-guided breast biopsy
- MRI-guided breast biopsy
The ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic and interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, and nuclear medicine and medical physicists. Its programs focus on medical imaging, radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
The Breast Imaging Center also offers the region’s only Automated Whole Breast Screening Ultrasound for women with dense breasts, adding an increased level of sophistication and accuracy to its array of state-of-the-art diagnostic capabilities.
All breast imaging at L+M is done in private settings by staff that understands your concerns and is ready to help with any questions. If a breast ultrasound is recommended after a diagnostic mammogram (a mammogram that is not for screening), we can provide it at the same time, eliminating another appointment. Women can also receive mammograms at L+M’s satellite offices in Waterford and at the Pequot Health Center in Groton.
For women who are diagnosed with a non-cancerous breast abnormality, L+M offers comprehensive care through its Breast Health Center, including follow-up testing with MRIs, MRI guided biopsies and surgical treatment as needed.
