Lawrence + Memorial’s Emergency Department is ready to treat children and adults alike, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition, the hospital has the region’s only dedicated Pediatric Emergency Program, enhancing services for children. Our Pediatric Emergency Program was designed to provide a unique level of care for our youngest ER patients.
Staffed by physicians who are fellowship-trained in pediatric emergency medicine and pediatric-trained nurses, the program provides ER care for children, from infants to age 21. In order to ensure successful recoveries for their young patients, the Pediatric Emergency team maintains close communications with the children’s family pediatricians.
Any parent coming to L+M with a child, should go to the main ED entrance on Faire Harbour Place. L+M staff will direct families to the Pediatric Emergency Program nearby whenever appropriate.
Separate from L+M’s busy main Emergency Department, the Pediatric Emergency Program location features generally shorter wait times and a family-friendly environment, both of which help to reduce family stress in a time of crises.
The program is currently operating seven days from 3 to 11 pm, handling pediatric cases from infants to 21 years of age. The main Emergency Department is always open to children as well as adults, with the pediatric program enhancing those services.
Seven days a week.
