Every year, as part of our vital mission to promote health and wellness throughout southeastern Connecticut, Lawrence + Memorial Hospital sponsors, develops and participates in a wide variety of community-based programs and services. During 2024, L+M managed $86.7 million in financial aid in-kind contributions through five wide-ranging programs: Guaranteeing Access to Care; Advancing Careers in Health Care; Promoting Health & Wellness; Creating Healthier Communities; and Building Stronger Neighborhoods. For more than 110 years, Lawrence + Memorial Hospital has not only served the medical needs of the community, but also pioneered advances in medicine and trained thousands of healthcare professionals. Today, as a member of Yale New Haven Health (YNHHS) – which also includes Bridgeport Hospital, Greenwich Hospital, Westerly Hospital, Yale New Haven Hospital and Northeast Medical Group – L+M is a distinguished institution whose 2,382 employees remain dedicated to the health and wellbeing needs of our community.
Lawrence + Memorial Hospital provided $56.7 million to guarantee access to care including free or discounted healthcare services to 10,414 eligible people at a loss of $21.1 million, plus under-reimbursed services for 65,254 Medicaid beneficiaries at a loss of $27.1 million. L+M also guarantees access to care by subsidizing clinical programs at a loss of $8.5 million.
Lawrence + Memorial provided $1.7 million to a variety of healthcare education programs that train individuals to become medical professionals, from physicians and nurses to pharmacists and dietitians.
Lawrence + Memorial Hospital provided $647,500 to local health education programs, support groups, health fairs and various community organizations that help make southeastern Connecticut a healthier place to live and work.
Lawrence + Memorial Hospital provided $27.5 million in funds and in-kind services to not-for-profit organizations.
Lawrence + Memorial Hospital provided $11,300 in financial and in-kind donations to address or support social drivers of health such as food security, job training, affordable housing programs, economic development and/or other essential services.
