Community Impact

A good community hospital is a pro-active player in the ongoing promotion of health and wellness. At Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, we take this role to heart, offering an array of community programs, services and opportunities that engage people in the journey toward healthier living.

Some of the many programs we’re proud to deliver include classes that help parents prepare for the birth of a child, infant CPR and a Caring for Baby class that helps educate new moms and dads on what’s best for their new child.

In addition, L+M has support groups for people with traumatic brain injuries, breast cancer, prostate cancer, and for those coping with the loss of a spouse, among others.

The hospital has a robust volunteer corps, and many of those volunteers help our patients with programs such as “Gentle Touch” massage and “Guided Imagery.” Other volunteer programs provide opportunities for both young and older adults to get involved in their community, helping the hospital while also making friends and learning new things.

The Auxiliary of Lawrence + Memorial Hospital demonstrates yet another way the community and the hospital are intertwined. Members of this proud 100+ year old organization include some of our area’s most caring individuals who support hospital programs through fundraising events while also enjoying the social connections and friendships that come with giving back.

L+M is grateful to the many people who give annually to the hospital’s fundraising campaigns, as philanthropy strengthens the ability of the hospital to continue to meet the high expectations of the community.

These various community partnerships are tied to the philosophy we hold at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital – to give back to the community because we are the community. We understand that our mission extends beyond caring for people when they are sick, and only by working together can we continue to improve the lives of our neighbors, friends and families.
