The Department of Education at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital is staffed with Clinical Educators and Clinical Resource Nurses who provide educational resources, clinical expertise, and clinical staff professional development opportunities for Nurses, PCA's, Surgical Technicians, Emergency Room Technicians and Health Unit Coordinators.
We provide orientation annual ongoing in service opportunity that develop and strengthen clinical practice to support the PCS shared vision to offer excellent, safe care, focusing first on the well being of our patients.
The Clinical Simulation Center at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital is staffed by Paramedics and Clinical Educators. The center offers innovative computerized mannequins for staff to be trained in real life scenarios that will give our healthcare providers additional confidence, experience and knowledge based critical thinking.

Faculty orientation will be arranged by nursing education here at the hospital. Faculty orientation will happen at least yearly or if you are a new instructor to the facility. All clinical faculty are responsibly for facilitating student orientation.
Program coordinators should submit faculty and student names at least two weeks prior to the start of student orientation. The security office requires completed parking permits submitted as a group two weeks prior to the start of student orientation.
All clinical faculty are responsible for facilitating student orientation. Faculty will be given orientation to the process and requirements regarding orientation on at least a yearly basis and or to all new clinical faculty.
Clinical faculty must contact the nurse educator to set up this date. The names of all students that are planned for L+M need to be submitted to the nurse educator two weeks prior to the start of clinical.

The Public Safety Department is responsible for patrolling all Hospital lots, including the Parking Garage, and enforcing the Hospital's Parking Policy. In regards to the Hospital's Parking Policy, it is available on the L+M Intranet Policy Manual; all nursing students and faculty must register their vehicles with Public Safety and obtain a temporary parking permit. This permit must be displayed in clear view and hanging from the rear view mirror at all times.

The Public Safety Department strictly enforces parking. Students and faculty are not permitted at anytime to park in the garage or in patient/visitor assigned areas. The security department will ticket, boot and tow cars that are not appropriately identified.
The Public Safety Department highly discourages street parking. The City of New London police department tickets, boots and tows if traffic and parking signs are not observed.
ALL students are required to utilize the shuttle bus services Monday through Friday during the day shift.
The Shuttle Bus service operates Monday - Friday from 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. providing round trip transportation to and from the Hospital.
The Shuttle Bus runs continuously throughout the day between the offsite lot and the Hospital drop off/pick up location which is the Old ER/PT entrance. If you are waiting longer than 15 minutes at the offsite, you may call Public Safety at extension 2086 and request that the Shuttle Bus be notified you are in need of a pick up. It takes approximately 13 minutes from pickup to drop off point, so please plan accordingly.
Waterfall Shopping Center: 40 Boston Post Road, Waterford, CT
Lot opens at 6am. - The lot is located approximately 1.27 miles from the Main Campus. The Waterfall Shopping Center, home to Benny's Department Store, is accessible from either Boston Post Road or Willetts Avenue.
Students and clinical faculty are to park on the Benny's side of the parking lot closest to the road.
All students and clinical faculty are required to show identification while on L+M campus. School name tag and a temporary hospital badge is required. Students are required to be badged on their first day of clinical orientation in the security department. Security strictly enforces this process.
Hours for badging are as follows:
9 am - 10 am
5 pm - 6 pm
It is the responsibility of the nursing student to prepare family member for these cases. Students should inquire this information through their faculty instructor.
