Other services available through our maternity unit include:
Healthy Start - Connecticut health insurance program for uninsured, pregnant women and their children up to age 24 months. For information or to make an appointment, contact Jessica Resto at 860-442-0711, ext. 2486.
Nurturing Families - A state-wide program that assists parents, particularly high-risk parents, with the challenges of parenthood. The program engages & supports parents before their first child is born through intensive home visits, group-based parent education, information and other support. Lactation Services - Breastfeeding Basics and Breastfeeding Support Group are available. Contact Jessica Maksim at 860-442-0711 ext. 2124.
WIC referral - Referrals are made to the Women + Infant Care (on nutrition) at 860-444-0006.
Connecticut Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (CBCCEDP) provides free breast, cervical and colorectal cancer screenings as well as diagnostic procedures to people who are uninsured or who have high deductible health insurance plans and meet income guidelines. The program staff will assist in the enrollment process, provide patient navigation for colonoscopy participants, case management with any abnormal finding, and provide outreach and education to the broader community. Funding support comes from the CT Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control. For more information please contact the office at 860-442-0711 ext 2197.
